Yoga
Did you know that over 86% of people who try yoga report a reduction in stress levels? When I first started practicing yoga, I would find myself in tears every time I melted into savasana (final resting posture). My nervous system was releasing stress and tension that it had been holding for years.
I experience profound healing by allowing my body to move and take up space on the yoga mat. My yoga practice continues to expand as I deepen my understanding, respect, and connection to yogic philosophies.
Yoga is so much more than a popular workout guiding you through the asanas (physical postures). There are eight limbs within the practice of yoga that are rooted in eastern indigenous wisdom, reminding us to live in unity and compassion. The Holistic Collective supports the decolonization of yoga by honoring its cultural roots.
This blog from Susanna Barkataki is a great resource for what a conscious practice can look like.
The Holistic Collective offers private & group yoga sessions.
In a yoga practice with the Holistic Collective, you can expect a series of invitations for movement, guided by the breath, and embedded with yogic philosophy. Keeping trauma-informed principles at the forefront, we encourage yogis to do what honors and nourishes their unique bodies, while upholding the cultural roots of yoga practice.
